Rescue Village and fourteen other Northeast Ohio nonprofit causes participated in Embrace Pet Insurance’s 2024 EmbraceCLE Community Challenge. Thanks to its community’s support, Rescue Village won first place in the Big Dogs category and secured a $15,000 grant from Embrace.
183 people donated in support of Rescue Village, raising $53,001 in just one month! A significant donation by Marc and Debbie Kritzer pushed Rescue Village to the top toward the last week of October. As long-time supporters and volunteers of Rescue Village, the Kritzer’s wanted to give a meaningful and impactful gift that would give Rescue Village a winning chance. Another difference-making gift to the campaign was made in honor of a kitten named Eva, whose owner adopted her from Rescue Village years ago.
Now in its fifth year, the EmbraceCLE Community Challenge is a fun and competitive fundraising event in October. Charities compete to raise the most money to support their missions and Embrace Pet Insurance provides the incentive of more than $60,000 in grants for the top fundraising organizations while drawing attention to the important work being done across the community. As part of the campaign, Rescue Village raised money for Alvin’s complicated and delicate surgery to remove his ear canal and middle ear due to multiple benign masses that were causing painful, untreatable infections. Alvin’s surgery was a success, and the four-year-old feline is recovering beautifully. Funds were also raised to support bottle baby Frankie, a kitten who was found living in a tree, and toward caring for long-stay dogs such as Rescue Village’s EmbraceCLE mascot Skylar.
Embrace Pet Insurance hosted an event at its headquarters in November to announce the award winners and to celebrate a 60% increase in fundraising for the challenge compared to 2023. Read Embrace Pet Insurance’s full press release HERE.
“We were honored to see Rescue Village not only participate but shine as a winner in the fifth annual EmbraceCLE Challenge,” said Amber Batteiger, PR and Communications Manager at Embrace Pet Insurance. “Over the past five years, the EmbraceCLE Challenge has raised an incredible $1.2 million, a testament to the dedication and passion of organizations like Rescue Village and the many nonprofits who work tirelessly to make a difference in our community. Thank you to Embrace and to everyone who made such a difference by donating to the challenge!
