Rescue Village has a complete medical team onsite to meet the needs of all the shelter animals. The state-of-the-art veterinary clinic provides spay and neuter services, behavioral enrichment, and medical care to every shelter animal.
Decision-making is multifaceted and very complex in the shelter environment. In order to determine capacity for care, the following factors are assessed by the medical team for each animal:
For over 40 years Rescue Village has been dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation through spay and neuter and is the longest collaboration for cats and dogs.
Prior to being put for adoption, each shelter animal is spayed or neutered. This is part of Rescue Village’s dedication to promote responsible pet ownership, reduce pet overpopulation, and decrease barriers to pet ownership.
Rescue Village is honored to have a team of dedicated veterinary staff at the shelter to care for all the animals, including those in foster. On average, the veterinary staff completes over 1,000 spay-neuter surgeries a year for Rescue Village’s shelter animals. Across all spay-neuter programs, the veterinary staff serves upwards of 2,000 animals each year.
Rescue Village implemented its behavioral health program as part of its clinical department in 2022.
Rescue Village strongly believes that improved behavioral health has the potential to advance the quality of life for animals and prevent future instances of animal cruelty and neglect in shelter animals’ lives. Behavioral health is a critical factor in helping rescued animals succeed in their future homes, and Rescue Village is committed to making a difference for its animals in this area.
